Perfect Chemistry

'Bad' boy + 'good' girl = Perfect Chemistry
A passionate and provocative love story about looking beneath the surface.
(Yeeeah. I got that from the website. Check here.)

So I finished another book today, and I think that I can finish my books-to-read list before summer ends. Yey me! So what I've read today is Perfect Chemistry written by Simone Elkeles. And here's what the story all about:
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.  In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.
Yes, I am an 18-yr-old-girl-who-loves-to-relive-her-first-love-experience-through-YA-books. Though this book didn't exactly explain mine. But it's the.... God it frustrates me that I can't explain it to you. The book the really hit me on-the-spot with the first love experience is "Love The One You're With" by Emily Giffin. Seriously guys, read it and I think you'll understand why I acted like 'that' half of my high school life.

Anywaaaaaaaaay........

It's the modern star-crossed lovers thing! Haha! I swear the last three books I've read has something to do about THAT kind of love -- from the Mockingjay, The Fault in Our Stars and, this, Perfect Chemistry. This book is really fun to read! Anticipation eats you up, mostly. It's predictable and unpredictable at the same time. Huh. I can't seem to explain this properly. Hahaha! It's like Pretty In Pink meets West Side Story! Yes, that's it! Thankfully, Simone wrote a sequel to this and I'm going to read tonight. Yes, I love books.

And if you ever wonder, yes, I fell for another fictional character -- again. Alex Fuentes. Oh bad habit, leave me alone.

"It reminds me of myself -- seemingly perfect on the outside, but inside is all mush."

"You know you can do more, but everyone expects you to quit."

"But this guy, smack dab in the middle of everything I'm against, is connected to me like nobody else."

"I want to know how to make this girl laugh. I want to know what makes her cry. I want to know what it feels to have her look at me as if I'm her knight in shining armor."

Day 6: Favorite Super Hero And Why

See, I'm not fond of sci-fi movies. Hell I don't even know if I'm watching one! Haha! But when I saw this challenge, only one super hero came into my mind, Thor.

I loved the movie and I actually really like the actor who portrayed the role of Thor. See, saying that I love hot men is an understatement. And really, Chris Hemsworth is one of the hottest humans alive. If you don't believe me, go Google it. I love his brother, Liam (Gale of Hunger Games), too.

Okay I can't help it. (I have a thing for guys with scruffy beard. I think it's hotter that way.) Now, if you don't think this gorgeous man is not handsome, well then, you need to get your eyes checked, honey. I believe there's something wrong with it. Haha! Now that I think about it, he seriously passes as an older version of his brother. They look identical. Ha. Must be the genes. Oh wait, of course it is the genes....

Let's go back to the super hero. Hmmm.. He's my favorite super hero because 1. he's hot, no doubt, 2. I have a thing for mythologies (Greek, Roman and Germanic), 3. he's a god, 4. I like the plot. The whole I-will-throw-you-to-earth-to-teach-you-a-lesson-and-be-humbled-because-you're-an-arrogant-warrior, 5. I love that super heroes fall for humans, predictable, I know, still, 6. he's the god of thunder.

And.... because he's hot. Ha-ha! Yes, I just did.

Okaaaay, I declare this a reading day, so.... Good bye! :-)

TFIOS

I listed about 40 books that I wanted to read for summer. I just finished one. And man did it mess my eyes up! I'm crying my eyes out, John Green. Thank you for that. (Yes, in case you happen to notice, he's my favorite author. Okay, one of my faves. Na-ah. Maybe even my most favorite.)

This is the plot summary from Wikipedia:
The novel takes place in Indianapolis and is narrated by Hazel Grace Lancaster, a sixteen-year-old girl with cancer. Pulled out of school at thirteen, she rarely socializes with people her age and spends most of her time alone. After she is diagnosed with clinical depression, she is put in a bleak support group for children with cancer. There, she meets Augustus Waters, whom she soon falls for, and they learn together.
It's so good that I might have to read it again, and again. The Fault In Our Stars is, without question, one of the brilliant three books that made me cry. The other two are, The Time Traveler's Wife and Mockingjay. I cried the hardest with this book and I wanted to punch John Green in the gut because of his incredible talent. He's really, really good with words! If you really like reading, I recommend reading this. It's a must-read, really. Just be sure you have your tissue with you. And be alone while reading this. Because I cried like a baby and was really thankful that I locked my door.

I can't go into details because I don't want to spoil things for you guys. Just grab a copy, now! OH! And if you're wondering, it's worth Php649.00. But do not fret, my friend, it's worth every peso. I can assure you that.

"My thoughts are stars I can't fathom into constellations." - Augustus Waters, The Fault In Our Stars

"It seemed like forever ago, like we'd had this brief but still infinite forever. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities." - Hazel Lancaster, The Fault In Our Stars

Another Bad Habit Of Mine.....

I fall for fictional characters.

And it freakin' hurts when the book ends. Especially when the man I fall for dies! Like, (SPOILER ALERT!!) The Time Traveler's Wife's Henry DeTamble and The Fault In Our Stars' Augustus Waters.

This is a really bad habit and I need to remove it in my system.. ASAP.

Day 5: A Picture Of Somewhere You’ve Been To

Coron, Palawan
(Pictures not mine.)

Coron, Palawan is probably my glimpse of heaven. We went there summer of 2009 and we stayed at... wait. I don't remember the place! Haha! I was planning on uploading pics but I can't seem to find the album or the memory card for that matter. Anyway, Coron is a must-go-to-place-before-you-die. Seriously, this is nature at it's best. The scenery cools your mind from any stress you've been bruised up with. There are many tourist spots here. :-) I wish I could really go back soon. With friends this time. *Cross fingers*

Day 4: A Habit You Wish You Didn't Have

This is hard...

Okay. I have a habit of getting mad at really, really small things. I have anger issues. I'm practically pissed off by small, insignificant things. My patience is really short. Shorter than the word short, I think. And I'm really trying to change that. I learned some techniques (thank you, Google). And I think I'm handling my anger better now. :-) Turning  it all around Barney Stinson style. (For those of you who can't get this, it's a line from one of my faves, How I Met Your Mother.) Change is never bad.

Keep In Mind

Hindi mo kailangan magyabang kahit na may ipagmamayabang ka. Seriously. That doesn't justify what you are doing. Don't need to brag, sweetheart. It's nice to have everything you want. But seriously, stuff yourself up with some humility.

Day 3: A Picture Of You And Your Friends

(Let's make this Part 1 and Day 11 is Part 2. Part 1 belongs to AUF friends.)

I don't think I should consider this a challenge at all. We're cam-whores, you know? We have instincts when it comes to camera. One second we're talking and all our faces look distorted -- okay maybe smudged would do (because we're OA when we tell stories), and the next second we're posing for the camera. It's a gift, you know? Hahaha!

I could give you many, many pictures. But let's settle with 20. Shall we?
Note: I know my friends would kill me for posting this. So, sorry in advance. HAHAHA!

THROUGH THE YEARS....

I know... After Buwan ng Wika 2007. We look like.. I know.
This is one of the happiest moments in my life! Ipagsiksikan mo pa
sarili mo! Sige! Haha!

Iba ang saya 'pag sila kasama mo. Believe me. :-)

My 18th.

This post sucks. Made me realize how much I miss them. Gaaaaah! I miss you, friends! Outing naman o, please?

Dear John

Soundtrip sa kwarto. Ano pa nga bang gagawin ko? At dahil Holy Week, chill muna ko sa mga masasayang kanta. At guess what song is on loop? Dear John by Taylor Swift. If you haven't listened to it by now, you should have. As in now na. It's one of my favorites kasi napaka-mellow. Alam n'yo naman tong si ate n'yo, emotera. HAHAHA! Okay, seryoso na. Pakinggan n'yo na. You're going to miss half of your life if you don't.

Don't you think nineteen's too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so? I should've known.

Day 2: The Meaning Behind Your Blogger Name

I KNEW IT! I knew I was forgetting something. Well because I was extra (uh-huh dear, extra) lazy today, I didn't open my laptop. But really, I was playing my guitar and I suddenly thought of the challenge. Silly me. Silly, old me. So... when you become 18 you become forgetful? Huh.

Well this question is easy. It's my name. Seriously. It's that simple. And to make this interesting, I will share to you some things. I was given the name Bettina Alyssandra. Mouthful, huh? My mom said she named me after some character on the book that she was reading. I was expecting like mash-ups of my parents' names! Haha! Seriously, when I was younger I get jealous with my classmates that have really cool reasons behind their names. And whenever they ask me, I'll just go like, "Galing daw sa book." Suck it, guys. Hahahaha!

Okay, since I'm in the mood (no PMS-ing. Huh. Weird.) and we're talking about names, I've always wanted to name my future baby Athena. I'm in love with that name. No. That's an understatement. I am obsessed with it.

'Yun lang. Dami ko ng nashare. Chos. Di naman talaga. Hahaha! Osya na! I'm going to read. Good night, sweeties! <3

Reborn

Weird title! Huh. Anyway, I forgot to blog about my sister's graduation last March 29. I need to share to y'all that it's the longest ceremony I've ever been to. Can you imagine sitting for 5 hours? YES -- 5 hours. The graduation was freaking 5 hours and my stomach is really growling (HAHA!!!) the whole time. Maybe it's my fault. I was thinking about the Lechon after that 5-hour suffering. Eh. Silly me..

FYI, ako ang nag-ayos sa kapatid ko. And yes, I'm proud! Ha! Well, we had a problem because her hair was really short. We settled for this Taylor Swift-ish hair and the make up was just whatever-color-I-see-then-blend because we are running out of time. She's pretty, no? So is my mom. <3

That's it, sweeties! I'll see you tomorrow. :-)

Day 1: A Recent Picture Of You And 15 Facts About Yourself

Good morning, peops! I'm up early. Let's start with Day 1 challenge, shall we? :-)

A Blogger's 30-Day Challenge

Hey, blog! It's been a drought week for me. Everything is just so dry and plain boring. Or maybe it's just me. I've been sitting on my bed for the whole day this past week playing on my iPod. If not that, I'm banging my head to the loud music that my huge (really HUGE) speaker provides. But we all know that it's Holy Week and I can't do that.

SO..... I did some stuff. Like try to learn using my Picasa. I had it for like forever already but I don't know how to use it. I also did some research about e-books because I'm freaking excited with my Kindle. (I know) I revisited some sites regarding photography and I remembered that I lost my memory card. Ha. Weird. Anyway, an idea popped into my mind and I instantly Google-d "The 30-Day Blogger Challenge" and that's why I'm writing this post.
